Dear Colleagues:
Plan now to attend the 1998 Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Sections of the American
Society of Animal Science and the American Dairy Science Association to be held on March 16-18, 1998 at the Des Moines Convention Center, Des Moines, Iowa. The headquarters will be the
Savery Hotel, with the Hotel Fort Des Moines serving as the headquarters for the Academic
Quadrathlon and student activities.
Why should you come to Des Moines in March? Consider these reasons:
- Cutting-edge symposia, including Mechanisms and Manipulation of Fertilization;
Lessons from the New Swine NRC: Opportunities for Further Research Progress; and
Accelerated Growth Strategies for Dairy Heifers.
- Exciting educational programs for students, including the Academic Quadrathlon, paper
presentation competitions for graduate and undergraduate students, and a new
Contemporary Issues program.
- The nation's premiere scientific program on swine nutrition and production.
- High-quality oral and poster sessions in all disciplines of animal and dairy science.
- Opportunities to interact with your colleagues.
You can help keep this program strong by submitting an abstract for presentation at the
Midwest meeting. Also, please consider nominating a deserving colleague for one of the Young
Animal Science Leader Awards. (Note that submission procedures have been changed for
the Agribusiness award.) The deadline for submission of abstracts and nominations is
November 1, 1997.
Plan now to attend and participate!
Sincerely,
James K. Drackley
